Once you receive your new furniture or bed order into your home, we want you to be delighted with it for many years to come.
Though every piece of furniture is different, there are steps that can be taken to help prolong the life of your furniture. If in any doubt, contact us, or the manufacturer of your furniture.
Cabinet Furniture
Do not position near heat sources or air-conditioning. Try to avoid humidity changes and exposure to extreme fluctuations in temperature. Protect from direct sunlight. Real wood furniture matures in light, so regularly rotate ornaments and expose table extension leaves in order to avoid variations in colour. Always lift your furniture when moving, never drag or push. Protect your furniture from sharp items that can cause scratching/grooving (e.g. ball point pens). Only use sprays and polishes suitable for the type of wood and type of finish on your furniture. Blot up any spills immediately, never rub or use detergents.
Upholstery
Try to avoid prolonged exposure to direct heat or sunlight. Sitting on the front edge of cushions or sofa arms can cause distortion or damage. When cleaning, follow the manufacturers cleaning and care label instructions. Do not try to wash or rub minor spillages, rather mop up excess liquid with a clean white cloth. It is perfectly normal for loose sofa covers to shrink very slightly during cleaning, and so you shouldn’t worry.
We also offer Guardsman protection for upholstery purchased from our Watford shop. This is available at a cost of £45 per seat.

Beds
Never fold or bend a mattress, as this can cause lasting damage. From time to time, ensure that the legs and castors on your bed are fully tightened. Do not overload divan bed drawers. Never wet clean your mattress, rather mop up spillages with a dry clean cloth. It is recommended to use a good quality mattress protector, as this will further enhance the life of your mattress theese are available in store at very competitive rates! If appropriate to your mattress, turn on occasion, in line with the manufacturers recommendation. On memory foam mattresses, this is not required, though they do require rotation every so often. Check the manufacturers guidelines for details. |
